Latest Monkhall Fishery News

KHV

As you may or may not know we have suffered an outbreak of khv in owl pool, we do not know how it got in given our strict net policies, or if it has been here and dormant for some time. This disease targets carp, and is triggered by stress which were sure was an oxygen crash, as a result we have lost a lot of carp from this pool. The f1s chub tench ect have remained unaffected, the good news is that there are still a lot of carp left in there, the pool is now open again and the first match was won with 97lb in terrible conditions, and the fish appear to now be very healthy.

We are working with the Environment Agency and CEFAS on the issue and protocol has been followed strictly. Although we supply all nets and weigh bags there is still a dip on the pool for dipping any equipment when you leave which is a great thing to do, to help stop transfer to other pools/fisheries.

Aeration

Moving forward following the KHV outbreak, there will be additional aeration on all pools in the form of the mushroom/fountain type aerators that will now constantly through the summer, this means they will stop on during matches and are not to be turned off! Dissolved oxygen is key in reducing stress levels and keeping fish happy and ultimately wanting to feed giving you the best chance we can of a good days fishing which is obviously what we all want! They are a little noisy and will push a ripple (not a current) for a short distance, it simply has to be this way as we have tried not doing it and we have learnt a very expensive lesson.

ALL OPENS ARE 10AM DRAW FISH 11 30-4 30 AS FROM 26/03/17

OPEN MATCH DAYS ARE CURRENTLY SATURDAY & SUNDAY, WEDNESDAY

WE NOW RUN A BONUS PEG @ £1 PER ANGLER ON OUR WEEKEND MATCHES (optional of course minimum 6 anglers) , the winner of the match gets the chance to draw his/her peg back out of the bag to win the cash prize. Please note that the cash will not be kept on site, so arrangements will be made to collect the prize. FOR CLARITY, if the winner of the match has not entered the bonus peg then 2nd place will get the draw for the prize, and so on. (A CAP MAY BE INTRODUCED TO THE BONUS PEG IF IT IS DEEMED TO BE TOO HIGH, AND WILL ROLL OVER TO 2ND PLACE IN THE MATCH, WITH THE SAME DEFAULT SYSTEM AS THE ORIGINAL)
